Okay, so I just found out that Robert Jordan died.
Sad.
Now I'll never know how it ends.
Mother F***er that makes me mad.

Apparently he'd completed a lot of it, and had dictated very detailed final plot synopses to family. Despite his optimism in his journal, he was obviously aware that he was likely to die before he could get to the end.

So there's a very good chance it will be finished and, even if some of the last book has to be ghostwritten, most of it will actually be by him and derived from his ideas for the finale.
Very Happy

This is what I'm scared of happening with George RR Martin's Song of Ice and Fire series Embarassed

I have never read any of Robert Jordan's stuff - is it good?

thanks, Sarcade. I didn't know that. I'm glad that he told family the end. I thought that he would be able to fight through it but there wasnt a lot of hope/
And yeah, his stuff is pretty good. There's a lot of amazing character development.

I've not read any of the Wheel Of Time saga, but not because I haven't been interested: I've been waiting until he finished it so I could get all 12,000 pages of it in one go.

Which is still very much on the cards. Very Happy

I'm glad you think the story is good and mentioned the character development side of it: there are so many reviews about the series, both good and bad, that it's difficult to get a sense of what it's really about, let alone like. Wink

Well, I guess if you ever want to know, I can tell you. It's got a few different side plots that are interesting too.

I just heard this too! Very sad!

But it is good to hear it's likely to be put out somehow.

I like the series, myself, although there are several points about it that irk me, I liked it enough to buy all the books, so I guess those points weren't terribly off-putting.
