Hi all!
I’m an Aussie living (for the time being) in Belgium, and enjoying the broadening of horizons that comes with learning a new language (Nederlands), seeing new lands and meeting new and lovely people. I live with Arnout and his family (and thereby hangs a fantastical tale!).
I’ve always been interested in writing, and since my teen years I have kept journals (perhaps inheriting this tendency from my late Grandfather, whose wonderful journals reach back to the 1930s). In the past few years, I have become increasingly interested in creative writing, turning to it first as a means of emotional expression, and then for the thrill of being able to create something uniquely “mine.” I don’t adhere to any particular genre of writing – I like to try my hand at anything that takes my fancy. Consequently, I’ve explored both poetry and prose, and genres such as romance, fantasy, magical realism, and mystery. Recently I have been thinking about publication (eek), and have started exploring the possibilities.
My favourite authors of all time are Terry Pratchett and Robert Fulghum, but my reading tastes are very broad and I’ll try anything once!
Arnout Brokking
My name is Arnout Brokking. I was born on a Sunday some 21 years ago in The Hague. My head usually cruises at an altitude of 6’6” (196cm) from the ground. On the moon I weigh 15.75 kg, on Jupiter (but he’s not my style) 273 kg and on Earth 105 kg (16 stone 7 lbs). I have dark hair, dark eyes, elf-ears and a very sensual nose.
There’s an old Chinese saying I thought up not long ago that goes: “it’s easier to pose for the picture than to actually write the bio” and I agree with that.
I’m a student at Tilburg University with a healthy fascination for the odd. I’ve spent most of my life in Belgium and as a result have an unhealthy fascination for chocolate. I cycle and play Australian Rules Football. Ayrton Senna famously said: “Racing is in my blood.” The same goes for me but with writing. Writing is in my blood; I drink it, breathe it, and apparently now share it on the Internet with you guys!
